Launcher Application

The HbbTV Broadband launcher application serves as an entry and control application for a single channel. The launcher application can help in achieving the following functionalities.
  1. Track audience on a channel
  2. Enable advertising on a channel
    1. Display ads
    2. Video ads
  3. Serve as a launching pad for other applications
    1. Via a mini-menu (user can select applications)
    2. Via color buttons configuration (user can launch linked applications by color buttons)
  4. Load application schedules
    1. Via color buttons (can load a schedule by pressing a color button)

Audience Measurement

Enabled by the "Enable Audience Monitoring" option, the feature tracks the unique devices on a channel at regular intervals and updates reports on Icareus Suite analytics sections for preset time periods, as well as providing a minutely "real time" count of devices.
There are different options to choose how you activate audience tracking. In option "Audience Monitoring" you can choose 4 different options.
  1. Disabled: Audience tracking is turned off on this launcher
  2. Invisible: Audience tracking is turned on and not visible to the user.
  3. Opt-in: Will ask consent from user to track his actions. If user have not replied after 20 seconds he/she is automatically opted in.
  4. Opt-out. Will ask consent from user to track his actions. If user have not replied after 20 seconds he/she is automatically opted out.
'AUDIENCE MONITORING CONSENT TEXT' is the text shown to the user, while asking his/her consent.
'AUDIENCE MONITORING CONSENT DURATION IN DAYS' is the amount of days before user is asked the consent again.
In options 3 and 4, if user presses 'Green' or 'Return' button he/she will consent in and if user presses 'Red' button he/she will consent out.

Enable Advertising

Enabled by the "Enable Addressable TV" option, this feature allows running campaigns on channels using Display Ads (banners) and Video Ads.
The campaigns have separate configuration and admin UI where admins can configure various types of campaigns.

Launch Applications

The application can enable launching other applications, either applications from within Icareus Suite or other HbbTV applications from third parties, using their applications URL(s).
  1. Mini Menu: A simple configurable menu which can have image tiles and links to the application to launch. User can navigate the menu using remote control and select the application to launch.
  2. Color Buttons: Color buttons can be assigned a URL, user can press the color button to open that URL.

Load Application Schedules

Apart from assigning application URLs to color buttons, it is also possible to assign "Schedule" URL to color buttons. Application Schedules can be created to point to various applications during different times of the day. So when user presses a color button with the schedule URL, it will load the schedule and launch the application active on the schedule at that time.

Schedule Example:
The Red Button on the launcher for channel C is set to load URL for application schedule S:
  1. Active application from 13:00-14:00: Application A
  2. Active application from 15:00-17:30: Application B
User tunes into channel C at 13:10 and presses red button: Application A will be loaded
User tunes into channel C at 14:15 and presses red button: Nothing will happen
User tunes into channel C at 17:20 and presses red button: Application B will be loaded
