Managing Users rights, Teams and Permissions

Introduction

Icareus Suite users are understood as admin user that can login to Icareus Suite admin view. In addition to admin users there can be subscribers and other end-users like event participants or viewers that don't have any user on Icareus system at all.
This document outlines how users and teams are created and managed on Icareus Suite.

Users

An user account is needed to access Icareus Suite admin panel.
Users are created, managed and deleted in Settings --> Users.
Each user has multiple properties of which e.g. email is mandatory as it is also used to login to the system:


User can have one of the following roles that define their permission to Icareus Suite features.
The available Roles are:
  1. Account Administrator
  2. Account User
  3. Viewer

Account Administrator Role

Account Administrator role is the highest role and the only role that ca add other users to the Suite account.
It has also visibility to all other functionalities and other users' assets.

Account User Role

Account User -role is the standard role that should be most used. User with this role in essence can access her own content within the system and do not have configuration rights etc. for the account.

Viewer Role

Viewer role is the most limited role the have only view rights to the content within the account that she has been granted access.

Teams

Teams are a tool to collect users into groups and give permissions more easily to larger groups to content within the account.
Teams are managed under Settings --> Teams.

A Team is added with "Add Team" Button and once the name has been given it is possible to add/remove users that belong to a team.
When user belongs to a team and a team is give Permission to some content within the Account, user will have the same rights to the content based on his role (Administrator, User, Viewer).

The permission scheme of Users and Teams is support for Assets and their visibility.
There are two permission levels:
  1. All permissions
  2. View permissions
With All permissions user has ability to edit and manage all aspects of the asset.
With View permission user can only view the asset and its metadata, but not change anything.

Videos, Audios, Subtitles and Images

Account Administrator has full access to all assets within the account
Account User has full access to her own assets and to the assets she is granted access personally or via a Team
Account Viewer has viewing rights to the assets she is granted access personally or via a Team
