Managing Users

Introduction

This article explains how to search, add, edit and delete users in Icareus Video Cloud.



In this article, "users" means people who have access to the Icareus Video Cloud management UI. This does not refer to subscribers, event participants, public viewers or other end-users who do not have access to the management UI.

Users can have one of the following roles:
  1. Admin
  2. User
  3. Viewer
The user role defines what the user can see and manage in Icareus Video Cloud.

Searching Users

You can search for a specific user by using the search function in the user list.

To search for a user:
  1. Go to Settings > Users.
  2. Click the Search icon to open the search bar.
  3. Enter the search term, such as the user's name, email address or other user information.
  4. The search results are updated automatically as you type.

  

To view more information about a user, click the user in the user list.



Adding New Users

New users are added from the user list.

Only users with the Admin role can add new users.

To add a new user
  1. Go to Settings > Users.
  2. Click Add New User.
  3. Fill in the user information.
  4. Select the user role: Admin, User or Viewer.
  5. Click Save.



After the user has been added, they will appear in the user list. The new user will receive a confirmation email with their password.

Changing a User Password

A user's password can be changed from the user's Change Password tab.

To change a user's password
  1. Go to Settings > Users.
  2. Select the user from the user list.
  3. Open the Change Password tab.
  4. Enter the new password in both password fields.
  5. Click Save.




Deleting Users

Users can be deleted from the user list.

Only users with the Admin role can delete other users.

To delete a user
  1. Go to Settings > Users.
  2. Find the user you want to delete.
  3. Click the trash can icon next to the username.
  4. Confirm the deletion.



If the user has created videos, a confirmation window will appear. In this window, you can choose whether the user's assets should be transferred to another user.
To transfer the assets, select another user from the dropdown menu before confirming the deletion.
If no user is selected, the assets created by the deleted user will also be deleted.

If the user does not have any videos, the asset transfer window will not appear.
