Introduction

The admin user can add subtitles and captions to videos.

Icareus support two subtitle / captions formats:

Format
Description
file type extension
WebVTT
The most popular web caption / subtitle format used by the video players
.vtt
SRT
(SubRip file format) is a simple subtitle file saved in the SubRip file format
.srt

Subtitles or captions are added on the own tab under each video asset:



There are three different ways to add subtitles:
  1. Link existing captions / subtitling file, which is uploaded in Icareus Video cloud
  2. New file, which will be created with Icareus subtitlings tool (read more from here)
  3. Upload, upload the new file in WebVTT / SRT format

1. Linking existing Captions file

Admin user can link existing subtitle or caption files by clicking the "Link existing" - button. It will open the following menu:


It will add the file under video asset:


3. Upload New File in WebVTT / SRT Format

Administrator user can add a subtitle file in WebVTT or SRT format by uploading it to the Icareus Video cloud by pressing the Upload button. In this case, the following menu opens:

In order to upload the file and add it to video, the admin user must:
  1. Write the new name to subtitle file
  2. Select the file from the computer by clicking button


And the file is added to the video:


All the subtitling or caption options can be launched under the vieo player's caption button:
