User Roles and Permissions in Icareus Video Cloud

User Roles and Permissions

Introduction

Info
The following permission-related instructions apply to organizations where permissions-based video visibility has been enabled.
By default, this setting is not enabled, which means that all videos in the account are visible to all users.
Icareus enables this setting on request.

Icareus Video Cloud has three user roles for users who access the management UI:
  1. Admin
  2. User
  3. Viewer
This article explains what each role can do and how permissions work with users, teams and assets.

This article does not cover subscribers, event participants, public video viewers or other end-users who do not have access to the Icareus Video Cloud management UI.

User Roles

Admin

Admin is the highest user role.
Admins have full access to the account. They can see, edit and delete assets created by any user in the account.
Admins can also manage users, teams and permissions. Only Admin users can add new users, delete users and change user roles.

User

User is the standard user role.
Users can access and manage their own assets. They can also access and manage assets that have been shared with them personally or through a team, depending on the permission level granted.
Users do not have account-level configuration rights and cannot manage other users.
In Studio, Users can edit their own projects but cannot access or modify projects that do not belong to them.

Viewer

Viewer is the most limited user role.
Viewers can only view assets that they have been permitted to access personally or through a team. They cannot add new assets or edit existing assets.

Permissions

Permissions can be granted either to individual users or to teams. They control which assets users and teams can access, and whether they can view or manage those assets.

Teams are used to group users together so that permissions can be managed more easily. When a team is given access to an asset, all users in that team receive access according to their user role and the permission level granted to the team.
