Trimming the video (recording)

Trimming the video (recording)

Introduction

With Icareus Suite you can trim the video directly in the cloud environment. Trimming means removing footage from the beginning and/or from the end of the video.
In addition, you can also create new highlight videos from the original video, e.g. if you have a 1 hour long video with 5 speakers, you can create 5 separate "highlight" videos, each showing a single speaker's parts.

Trimming

To trim to the video:
  1. Select the video asset.
  2. Click the "Trim" button next to the video preview:

It will open a pop-up - make sure your browser allows it.

3. Now, enter the trimming parameters.

Example:
The case video is 2:06 long (2 minutes and 6 seconds) and there are 6 seconds extra at the end and 10 seconds in the beginning.
Then put:
  1. End time: 00:02:00 (define it to 2:00 )
  2. Start time: 00:00:10 (define it to 10 s.)
  3. Create new snapshot: If you want to create a new snapshot from the original video, then select "Yes", if you just want to trim the existing video, select "No".
  4. Click "Trim video" button.
==> The new video will be around 1:50 long.
The cut/trim points are not exact, as the trimming is done to ensure maximum speed. The start and end times will be rounded to nearest key-frames.

3. The system will ask for confirmation.
There is not Return/Back feature in the system, so once the existing video trimmed, you cannot get the original back.

4. System is processing the video
You have to wait for a while.
5. Processing is Ready
You can now close the pop-up and refresh the assets page. You will see one or both assets (if you chose to create a new snapshot).
  1. The system has added the week day, date and time for the Asset name
  2. It has transcoded the new version, so the thumbnail of the video is bit different (in this case, from 10 seconds later than in the  original video)
