Using Auto Mode in the Broadcaster App

Streaming in Auto Mode

Introduction

The Broadcaster app includes an Auto mode that allows the app to automatically stream all scheduled game from a selected venue.

Auto mode is useful when multiple games are scheduled at the same location and the broadcaster wants the app to handle the streaming schedule automatically.

Instead of starting each game manually, the user selects a venue, reviews the schedule, confirms the selection, and leaves the app ready. The app then waits for the next scheduled game and starts streaming automatically when required.

Before You Start

Before using Auto mode, make sure that:
  1. the device has enough battery or is connected to a charger
  2. the device has a stable internet connection
  3. the correct games have been scheduled for the venue
  4. the device camera and microphone are available
  5. the device can be placed in the correct position for streaming

1. Open Auto Mode

On the home screen, select Auto from the mode selector.

The app shows a short explanation of Auto mode and the steps required to start automatic streaming.

Auto mode consists of two main steps:
  1. Choose a venue
  2. Stream hands-free - Let the app stream the scheduled games automatically
To continue, tap Choose a venue.

2. Choose a Venue

After tapping Select venue, the app opens a list of available venues.

You can find the correct venue by:
  1. scrolling through the list
  2. typing the venue name into the search field
When you find the correct venue, tap it to open the venue schedule.

3. Review the Venue Schedule

After selecting a venue, the app shows the upcoming games scheduled for that location.

Each game row shows:
  1. game name or participants
  2. date
  3. start time
Review the list to make sure the correct venue and games are selected.

To continue, tap Confirm Venue.

After the venue is confirmed, the app prepares Auto mode for that location.

From this point onward, the app uses the selected venue schedule to determine which game should be streamed next.

4. Allow Camera and Microphone Access

When Auto mode is started for the first time, the device may ask for permission to use the camera and microphone.

These permissions are required because the app uses the device camera and microphone to stream live games.

The operating system may show separate permission requests for:
  1. Camera access
  2. Microphone access
Allow both permission requests.

Warning
If camera or microphone permission is not allowed, the app cannot stream the game correctly.
Info
If permission was denied by mistake, open the device settings, find the app permissions, and allow camera and microphone access.

5. Wait in Standby Mode

After the venue has been confirmed and permissions have been granted, the app enters Auto mode standby.

In standby, the app shows:
  1. the selected venue
  2. the current status
  3. when the app was last checked
  4. the next scheduled game
  5. the start time of the next game
The Next Game card shows which game will be streamed next and at what time.

In standby mode, the app waits for the next scheduled game. Keep the app open while it is waiting. Closing the app may prgame automatic streaming from starting.

Position the Device

Before the game starts, rotate the phone to landscape orientation. The broadcaster app is optimized for streaming in landscape mode.

Make sure that:
  1. the device is stable
  2. the camera view is correct
  3. the microphone is not blocked
  4. the device has enough power for the full game

Changing the Venue

If the wrong venue was selected, tap Change venue.

This returns you to the venue selection process, where you can search for and select another venue.

Changing the venue updates the automatic streaming schedule to match the newly selected location.

6. Automatic Streaming Starts

When the scheduled game starts, the streaming screen opens automatically.

The broadcaster does not need to manually start the stream. Auto mode uses the selected venue schedule to start the correct game at the correct time.

Info
Depending on the service setup, automatic streaming may in some services depend on the game status in an external administration, scoring, or results system.

If the service uses an external system, the game may need to be marked as started in that system before the Broadcaster app begins streaming.

If the service does not use an external system, no separate manual start action is needed in the Broadcaster app after Auto mode has been set up.

Even if the game is scheduled and its start time has arrived, streaming may not begin until the service considers the game ready to start.

During streaming, the screen may show information such as:
  1. live status
  2. network connection quality
  3. audio status
  4. bitrate
  5. frame rate
  6. streaming duration
  7. game information
  8. selected venue

The user cannot manually return from the streaming screen to standby mode.

7. Between Scheduled Events

If more games are scheduled at the same venue, the app continues using the same venue schedule.

After one stream ends, the app returns to standby mode automatically. The next scheduled game is then shown on the Auto mode screen.

The broadcaster does not need to select the venue again unless the location changes.

8. Stop Auto Mode

There are two ways to end Auto mode, depending on whether the app is currently streaming or waiting in standby mode.

End Auto Mode During a Stream

If the app is currently streaming, tap the arrow in the upper-left corner of the streaming view.

This closes the active Auto mode session and returns the app to the initial Manual mode start screen. The app will ask you to confirm your decision.

Warning
Use the arrow only when you want to fully exit the current Auto mode session. It does not pause the stream and return to standby mode.

Stop Auto Mode from Standby

If the app is waiting in standby mode, tap Stop Auto mode.

This stops the active Auto mode session and returns the app to the initial Manual mode start screen.

Use this option when:
  1. automatic streaming is no longer needed
  2. the device should not continue streaming upcoming games
  3. the broadcaster wants to return to manual operation

Notes and Best Practices

  1. Keep the device charged while using Auto mode, especially if several games are scheduled.
  2. Use a stable internet connection whenever possible.
  3. Place the device in landscape orientation before the game starts.
  4. Make sure the camera and microphone permissions have been allowed.
  5. Check that the correct venue has been selected and that the upcoming games shown in the app match the expected schedule.
  6. Do not close the app while Auto mode is waiting for or streaming scheduled games.
