Adding Event Images: Thumbnails and Banner Images

Introduction

This article explains the purpose of event images in Icareus Video Cloud, where they are displayed, and the recommended image formats and sizes.

Each event in Icareus Video Cloud can include:

1. Thumbnail image
   
2. Banner image (used in Icareus portals only)
   

These images are configured individually from the Event Settings of each event.

Thumbnail Images

The thumbnail image is the main image associated with an event.

Where the Thumbnail Is Used

The thumbnail is displayed:

1. In the portal event carousel, above the event title and other event information
   
2. In embeddable event players, as the background image of the event lobby
   
3. In the event list view within the Icareus Video Cloud administration interface
   

Thumbnail Aspect Ratios in Portals

Portal thumbnails can use different aspect ratios depending on the portal configuration.

The available aspect ratio options are:

1. 1:1 (default)
   
2. 16:9
   
3. 2:3

These settings are configured from the Portal Settings and affect all event thumbnails displayed within that portal.

Portal Banner Images

In Icareus portals, the event lobby can use a separate banner image.
This banner is different from the thumbnail image and is intended for wide-format header visuals.

If no banner image is configured, the portal will automatically use the event thumbnail image instead.

Banner Aspect Ratio and Resolution

Recommended specifications:

1. Aspect ratio: 5:1
   
2. Recommended resolution: 1920 × 384 px
   

Supported File Formats and Limits

Both thumbnails and banner images support the following formats:

1. JPG / JPEG
   
2. PNG

Maximum file size:

1. 2 MB per image
