Adding Chapters/Timestamps to Videos

Introduction

Admin users can add timestamps (chapters) to videos. Chapters allow you to highlight specific moments in a video and make them easier to navigate.

Adding Timestamps (Chapters)

You can add timestamps in the video settings:

Manage → Basic Info → Chapters

Click 'Add Chapter' to create a new chapter.:

Required Fields

Each chapter requires two fields:

1. Time – The point on the video timeline where the chapter appears
   
2. Title – The text shown when hovering over the chapter on the video timeline, and the label used if the chapter is added to the video description
   

Time Format

The time must be entered in the following format, as shown in the field:

hh:mm:ss

hh = hours

mm = minutes

ss = seconds

You can enter the time by typing it directly into the field or by selecting it from the clock icon dropdown.

Adding the Title

Enter the chapter title in the Title field.

After both the time and title are entered, the chapter will be added to the timeline.

Refresh the page to see the chapter displayed on the video timeline.

Sharing a Chapter Link

Three icons appear next to each chapter entry.

Copy Chapter Link to Player

Click the first icon to copy the chapter link.

The link opens the video and starts playback at the selected timestamp. It can be shared or embedded like a normal video link.

Add Chapter Link to Description

Click the second icon to add the chapter as a clickable link in the video description.
Clicking the chapter link in the description will start playback at the selected timestamp.

There is a known issue that prevents chapter links from being added if the description field is empty. We are working on a fix.
Workaround: Enter any text in the description field before adding chapter links.

Deleting Chapters 

Click the last icon on the right to delete a chapter.

The deleted chapter will remain visible on the timeline until the page is refreshed.
