FTP File Transfer Protocol. A protocol that is built on top of TCP. Contains commands for transferring files, directory listings, changing transfer modes etc.
IP Internet Protocol. A connectionless, packet-oriented, best-effort protocol that routes traffic through the Internet.

MHP Multimedia Home Platform. Defines a generic interface between interactive digital applications and the terminals on which those applications execute. This interface decouples different provider's applications from the specific hardware and software details of different MHP terminal implementations. PAT Program Association Table. Provides correspondence between a program number and the PID value of the Transport Stream packets which carry the program definition (PMT). [1]
PES Packetized Elementary Stream
PID Packet Identifier. A unique integer value used to identify elementary streams of a program in Transport Stream. [1]
PMC Playout Management Console. A client software that is used to manage the Icareus Playout Server.
PMT Program Map Table. Provides mappings between program numbers and the program elements that comprise them. [1]
PS Program Stream. MPEG-2 stream format that comprises a single program in separate streams which are not multiplexed. [1]

TCP Transmission Control Protocol. A reliable, stream-oriented protocol that is built on top of IP. Establishes a connection between two parties and takes care that no traffic is lost.
TDT Time and Date Table. Carries the UTC-time and date information. [6]
TS Transport Stream MPEG-2 stream format that can carry multiple programs simultaneously and is optimised for use in applications where data loss may be likely. [1]
